I begin each day
by intentionally
strangling
myself
with
sixty inches
of hand stained
artfully woven
intricately stitched
imported Italian silk
stretched taught like
otter skin
on a Cherokee
drumhead
turned and pulled;
cut at just the right
angle
that the laser
straight lines
of the weaver’s loom
now hang a perfect
downward slant
of elegant gold,
regal burgundy
and a microscopic dab
of ketchup
in the middle most
golden stripe
no known amount of
dry
cleaning will
remove
ever.
